How to find The Hideaway
From Exeter take the A38 to Plymouth. You have the choice of going over the Tamar Bridge or across on the Torpoint Ferry to reach the Rame Peninsula.
Tamar Bridge: carry on the A38 and over the Tamar bridge (no toll coming in to Cornwall!) travel through Landrake and Tideford to a roundabout at Trerulefoot. Turn left and follow all signs for Millbrook and Kingsand. When you have passed through the village of Crafthole you will pass an old military fort at the top of the hill on your right.*** 200 yards past the fort turn right S/P Whitsand Bay. Follow the road to the other end of the bay and just as the road turns away from the sea there is a driveway entrance to your right with two granite pillars and a sign for Polhawn Fort. Proceed down the tarmac drive for 100 yards and then when you have gone over the first speed bump fork right down our drive. There is a sign for Polhawn Cottage, the sign says “Footpath Only”, don’t worry this is our drive.
At the bottom of the drive turn sharp right and park on the RIGHT hand side of the parking bay (there are signs here for Polhawn Cottage parking) as far forward as possible. Walk along the path at the back of the cottages to the five bar gate which is the entrance to The Hideaway.
Torpoint Ferry: As you approach Plymouth fork off left at Marsh Mills and follow signs for City Centre and Torpoint, when the signs disappear keep straight ahead and they will reappear eventually and guide you to the Ferry Lanes. When you come off the Ferry follow the road through Torpoint to the village of /Anthony where you will turn left S/P Miilbrook and Cawsand. Follow this road to a T junction and turn left and you will see an old military fort at the top of the hill on your right. Now follow from *** above.
